Downloads
Actually, no downloads are necessary because the Wireless Link's simple setup does not require any device drivers or configuration files to download. Setup is incredibly simple.
Setup
- Unplug the phone cord from your modem and plug it into the base unit.
- Plug power adaptor into a power outlet and the base unit.
- Plug the remote unit into the USB port and the attached phone cord into the modem port.
Setup is now complete. Simply dial up through your service provider and the Wireless Link should work.
Troubleshooting
In case it doesn't work immediately, check the following in order to resolve the problem:
- If you have a new PC or Laptop, make sure you install the software from your ISP (like AOL, NetZero etc.) so that you can dial up to the ISP. You need to do this even without using the Wireless Link.
- Does the modem work correctly when it has a direct wire connection to the phone jack? Verify that the modem, computer, and all software are working.
- Is the phone line already in use by another device? Make sure a phone or modem isn't already occupying the line.
- Does your phone jack provide access to 2 separate lines? Try sliding the line selection switch on the base unit to the other selection.
- Are the connections to your computer correct? The modem port in the PC is usually marked with a phone symbol or labeled "modem". Make sure that the USB cable is plugged into the USB port on the PC.
- Do you hear a dial tone or dialing beeps as you would with a direct wire connection to the phone jack? If not, either the connections to the Wireless Link are not correct or the Wireless Link is defective.
- What is the connect speed? Not all modems and phone lines offer the same level of performance, and performance with the Wireless Link may be slightly higher or lower.
- In case all of them don't work, check you modem setup. Make sure your dialing is "tone dialing", not "pulse dialing".
